She was a designer, singer and performer and broke barriers in the world of music. The dual nature of her role as an Mexican American performer was traditional and contemporary. She helped bring Tejano to mainstream fame in an innovative way. Like many times of a brilliant and friendly star is lost far too early the tragic loss of her life shattered her growing profile. People mourned the entire extent of its untapped potential. Through the years, her people were motivated to do their best to make sure that Selena's accomplishments would not go unnoticed. Her tragic death in a shooting provoked a response from the Latino Community that was comparable as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. Selena was a wildly loved singer by Latinos throughout North America. But her songs touched the hearts of both young and old. Selena, a sexy and glamorous stage performer who is sometimes called Latina Madonna was the model on stage. She participated in antidrug campaigns.
